Origin of the Phlebodium

The Phlebodium originates in the tropical and subtropical rain forests of Central and South America. After years of breeding and selection, the grower then introduced this species as the Davana®, named after the three daughters of the owner. In 2020, this Phlebodium Davana also won the Glass Tulip, a prestigious award for exceptional and innovative plants.

Care tips for the Phlebodium

Low maintenance and diverse: that's the Phlebodium! One of the biggest advantages of the Phlebodium is that it is an easy plant to care for. Here are some care tips for the Phlebodium:

1. Light: Place the plant in an area with indirect light. In fact, in its natural habitat, the Phlebodium lives in the shade. If you place it in direct sunlight, the leaves may burn.
2. Watering: Keep the potting soil slightly moist, but avoid placing the plant with its roots in water. A weekly watering is usually sufficient. In doing so, it is important that you water through the sides of the pot, so not in the middle of the plant. This way you avoid a bare heart.
3. Temperature: The Phlebodium likes a pleasant room temperature between 15 and 25 degrees Celsius.

Will there be flowers on the Phlebodium?

No, there are no flowers on the Phlebodium. The Phlebodium is a fern and does not produce flowers like flowering plants do. Instead, it reproduces through spores visible on the underside of its leaves. These spores look like small, round, brown or orange dots and are part of the natural reproductive process of ferns.
